5 Free Website Analysis Tools You Should Try

If you already have a website, there is a good chance you’re probably curious as to how well you’ve optimized it from an SEO point whether it be on-page or off-page. Over the past few weeks I have tried and tested a number of free website analysis tools which helps me identify any specific areas I need to diagnose including social media, linking and analytics.

Today I’m going to share a few of my favorite free tools with you:

1. HubSpot’s Marketing Grader

Marketing Grader is easily my favourite (previously known as “Website Grader”) as you only need to insert your domain name at http://marketing.grader.com and then the magic will happen. Marketing Grader will begin to measure your site across a number of key metrics including:

  • Do you have a blog on your website or not? If so, then they provide a score
  • How many pages of your website are indexed in the search engines?
  • How many images does your site have? The more images your site has the longer the loading time (generally speaking)
  • Does your website have a responsive theme to make it easy for smartphone and tablet viewing?
  • How many links are driving traffic to your website
  • Do you have a Facebook Page, a Twitter account?

Simply by running this check through marketing grader, you can get a better understanding of your site and therefore fix any obvious weaknesses which get picked up. Try and not focus too much on the Analytics component but instead lean towards Top of the Funnel (ToFu), then head to Middle of the Funnel (MoFu). Marketing Grader also gives you the option of comparing your grade to any other website (hint: go through each of your competitors) to see how you stack up – and yes, this is completely free!

2. Search Commander

Search Commander offers a great site review of your ‘on site’ SEO factors which influence your organic search rankings – takes literally 45 seconds to get an in depth analysis so you know what areas you’re doing well in and what needs more work on.

 3. WooRank

I would have to put WooRank up there with Marketing grader with the level of detail you receive and the presentation – absolutely brilliant. The site allows you to do one free website review when you first visit. WooRank offer  a 7 day free trial where you can enter as many sites as you want but then they start their monthly fees from $49 which I think is a little too steep for running a website review.

Give the 7 day trial a shot and see what you think. If you run an online digital agency then perhaps it might be worthwhile investing in such a tool as the reporting is good on the eyes and your clients wont be disappointed.

4. CrawlerFX

CrawlerFX is another handy free website analysis tool which was launched by WebpageFX. The SEO analyzer will inspect your website and produce a set of actionable tips you can review to enhance your website from a search engine perspective. When you run a review you will receive a website grade attributed to the on-site factors which influence your site’s positioning in the search engine page results (Google, Bing, Yahoo), along with some valuable insights from the SEO experts themselves.

 5. UpCity

And to round out the top 5 list, we have UpCity’s free SEO Report Card which is probably comparable to WooRank given they have also developed a neat interface which makes it easy to extract the key metrics a website owner would be after. UpCity focusses on 4 key areas, including Current Rank, Link Building, On-Site, Accessibility, Trust metrics and Current indexing.
